China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corp (CGNPC), one of China's three nuclear power developers, said it has received government approval to conduct an early-stage study for Lufeng nuclear power station, Reuters reported.
CGNPC plans to build two one-gigawatt reactors in the first phase of Lufeng in eastern Guangdong, using its CPR1000 design based on European pressurised water reactor technology.
Lufeng would house six one-gigawatt reactors, CGNPC said, citing approval guidelines from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
CGNPC said it had 25 reactors with a total capacity of 28 GW that had received either initial or final approval from the NDRC.
